Beginner Lesson 9 – Bar Chords

When I started playing guitar 2 years ago (has it really been that long and I still can’t play very good??? wow!) bar chords were the hardest thing for me to get. Switching between them and having enough strength to bar down all the strings seemed almost impossible!! But guess what? I kept at it and eventually got it. Now I enjoy the ability to play lots of songs with strictly bar chords (think everything by Jack Johnson) and you will be able to do this to.

You must work on your hand strength. Getting a stress ball and squeezing the hell out of it in just one thing you can do. Just remember not to get frustrated and keep at it. If you seem like you just can’t get it, go back and work on something that you have already got down, like your G, C and D open chords. You’ll get it!! Just keep playing mates!

This video is done by my buddy Justin. I think you will agree that he’s a great guitar teacher!
